The successful development of the offshore wind energy industry to support Ireland’s 70% renewable electricity 2030 target is heavily dependent on having suitable port infrastructure available in Ireland.
The March 2020 Carbon Trust report “Harnessing Our Potential” recommended “strategic investment at a port(s) on the east/south coast to take advantage of the commercial opportunity of delivering 3.5GW of offshore wind where the majority is likely to be on the east/south coast”. In this report, it is estimated that as a result of the offshore energy industry commercial opportunities of some €70m are possible for a staging port and some €350m for an operations and maintenance port with local development and construction jobs by 2030 of some 2,500 together with some 900 permanent operations and maintenance jobs.
It’s this demand for renewable energy industry development that has brought XELLZ Ireland Ltd to source a perfect location for the development for these business activities in terms of handling offshore wind installations as well as developing an entirely new business park where knowledge sharing, training, industry expertise, and operations & maintenance (O&M) come together in to one place. The Rosslare Europort Business Park (EBP).
Rosslare is the perfect location in terms of open port infrastructure and be capable of handling any Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) installation and O&M in the Irish Sea and Celtic Sea.
